well it certainly was springlike this weekend with ample sun though the mornings still held the nippiness. heng ji was in LV celebrating W&W's wedding which i was sorry to miss but i spent the weekend brunching with friends i haven't seen in a long time & attending a party in the hood. very nice.
the boyos & i got a lot of naps & walks in too! which is how i really wanted to spend my first & probably last weekend alone for a long time. heng ji was much missed but it was still good to have some alone time. besides we text & call often so...
a good friend from school was in the states & unlike his last visit a couple of years back, we actually saw one another over a nice brunch & were able to catch up over the last many years that emailing doesn't cover. it's amazing how people's lives change yet they still stay the same. there were many parallels in our lives all this time & it's good to sit down & really hash things out. perhaps we can go visit him & his brood in munich one of these days.
a dogowner friend of mine who has been quite busy coincidentally had time this past weekend so yet another brunch & hang out which i was glad to do! funny how when you move out of a neighborhood, you do lose touch with people despite best intentions. gotta put an end to that. i mean we are all still in crooklyn (as petros would say). it ain't that far!
the party in the hood was for a shaolin brother who was in town for a short number of days & it was good to see her too. i am sure i have reiterated ad naseum how great my shaolin brothers are & every time i spend time with them i am reminded of this fact! it was pretty chill at another shaolin brother's place with hanging out & some guitar hero (where we sang back up) & ran much later than i intended. it was good fun & i was pleased to catch up. i can't wait to go back to training to see some of these folks more often. they really add to the beauty of shaolin & i am inspired by their chi. ah, good times ahead.
despite the restful weekend, the boyos & i did not miss a single morning off leash romp time. could be why young machiavelli is affecting a bit of a limp despite his scaling walls & jumping around. it could be that he missed heng ji too. my lama could have been better with the barking at skateboards & ceaseless hunting. really robs me of the joy sometimes.
people have been commenting on my tummy & when they learn how far along i am they are shocked that i am still walking the boyos. dogs still have to go out, people & i need to be active, walking the expanse of the park & up & down the rolling hills. sure i am not as spry as i usually am but this is all good, for me, for boyos, for bounceback.
now heng ji is back so all is good.
