on the go

is it me or does these days just seem like they are flying right by? i guess this feels especially so because there are so many PLANS & me being, or rather preferring to be, the fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants type, finds all this planning a bit heavy. sure, with things going on, one must plan accordingly but still i feel like the spontaneity is gone from many things. this is not to say i am not having fun, i am! this weekend was just my type of thing - days without any forseeable plan, just hanging out, napping & whatever else floats my boat.
so this week, apart from training evenings, there is the 4th of july to consider. we are so lucky in that many people want to spend time with quan tuo & i & we are grateful to have so many good friends to hang out with. i never want to say no to anyone but there are many things to consider on the 4th. my boyos are on the top of my list (as always) mostly because mac is deathly afraid of loud noises & i don't think i would be having any good times knowing he is desperately trying to find a place to hide during the 2 hour or more event. tenzin is ok with fireworks in all, just taking on the protector role since mac abdicates this only on this day. also, to be entirely truthful, fireworks are alright, pretty even, but have never been a highlight for me. i know lots of people love fireworks (quan tuo included) & that's great but come on! is this really how we wish to spend millions of dollars? maybe it's just me. then there is getting to & from anywhere which thankfully since we live in die niederwelt is easy enough but the loads of annoying people, ick. luckily we will have a friend's car this week while she & her family are away in france so that helps with various plans & also hinders us in the alternate side parking world. it's workable but a consideration.
this friday is also movie night at temple & as if quan tuo & i don't spend enough time there training (well i may not but he certainly does), we are going to the movie night since it's one of my favourite films & i even suggested it to sifu! of course this doesn't just mean movie, it means drinking & hanging out & who knows what else!
already planning for the weekend with back to back events in beantown: ton's baby shower & jay's bday lobstergrill. my cousin ton is someone i love, love, love. we grew up together & has always been more like a brother (who calls me sir, with love) & now, not even a year after his marriage, is having a baby boy! so exciting. i would never miss a ton event if it can be helped. my bro in law is a brother to me, having been around a really long time & stepping in here & there to help heal rifts when my sister & i argue (usually when we travel together) plus lobster. who can say no to that? also, i have spent scant little time in boston this year. it feels like previous years had many more visits. i love those varady kids & look forward to seeing that animated rat movie with them. i love my family & would like to spend time too. thank goodness quan tuo enjoys all these little events.
looking at the rest of july, practically every weekend is already booked & i will be sure to lament difficulties & discuss good times as they are had.
