training was awesome last night. i got there early & quite a few folks arrived with or right after me. it's nice to get there early & stretch out, get the body warmed up as well as chit-chat with everyone & with sifu. sifu was playing his lord of the rings videogame, gandolf was his character & he was having a good time, muttering things from time to time catching our attention. all smiles. a nice group showed up including several level 2 folks who haven't been coming around since they started level 2. quan tuo made it too! sifu was keen not so much on going fast this time but in being precise. i made it all the way through most of the forms, really enjoying shuangtui quixitao, through stretching which i did with a new brother & hannah r (poor guy, i distinctly remember my first few 3 man stretches!), then i got pulled off for waibaitui (of all things). i know why, i wasn't popping as much focusing on bringing my leg all the way around. so no forms for me.
sifu has been lately on the level 2 folks to lead the class & be examples for everyone & not be in the back of the line. he's been at it for some time calling folks out & threatening to send them back to level 1 for sleepy style training. sifu called several out including quan tuo last night & they got a stern talking to. none of them were surprised!
i did work on lunbi caijiao with 'shua, emphasizing several things that i don't get to do with any precision when i am in line since it's going so fast: (a) rotation on the heel (which i must admit i sometimes forget) to look at polar bears & dolphins - the newer students didn't know what he was talking about at first; (b) ending with the pop that should leave you as if you are ending your jamaican limbo, mon, with the hand flat & both you & your hand parallel to the ground & (c) timing when your hands & foot meet propelling the pop. it was quite fun & left me pretty invigorated. i have a hard time with my left side (the weak side) sometimes & i found myself leaning to the left when i did lunbi caijiao on the left (nothing new) so i worked that side mostly. 'shua commented that i am was much straighter now after the drills! sifu broke everyone into small groups to work on specific things. heng mo calls it kung fu kindergarten (so true!). he came around to watch us with the newly enhance lunbi caijiao & he says to me "see, i knew you could do it, consistent, consistent" which quan tuo & i have talked about before too! it was worth the extra pains to hear sifu say "beautiful" to my lunbi caijiao. now if i can only pop every time.
what is my deal anyway? my kung fu is not consistent. sometimes it's all good, sometimes it's bloody hell. maybe the line goes to fast? i feel like i sacrifice precision for speed at times. it's an ongoing battle, for sure. consistency has never been my strong suit. all around.
sifu spoke to us a bit after lining up & i always listen to him with an open heart. he said our lives are beautiful, our bodies, ourselves beautiful & that life is exercise, it's happiness, it's doctoring yourself. amituofo! then we did mabu gongbu strikes & i felt good about that, opening up the chest & throwing the head back in the pop all the while feeling the back/supporting food firm into the ground.

i did push-ups by myself then quan tuo joined me for sit-ups. i did a bit of cleaning meditation in gongbu & mabu too! my taller brothers taking the lead on the higher parts of the mirror!
the chi level was good although there was more clapping than yells of MORE CHI. i really missed qbertplaya who is often so supportive to everyone in line but we made do! i know i started a couple of rounds of clapping & screamed out MORE CHI several times. the mood was pretty good & the energy level high!
a good group of us took over the back wall of this excellent korean place nearby for refueling & relubricating! the food was great, lots of special water (sapporo & sake) going around to compliment great conversations & lots of laughs with the gang. more & more folks are joining us to eat & decompress after. i take the lead in inviting people & helping our gang to grow. variety is the spice of life & my brothers offer it all up in spades!
i asked sifu to join us & he said he'll try to join us next week. i hope he can! more special water!
so happy i trained. i know quan tuo was too! each training experience is wholly different.
feeling a bit beat today but that's fine too. MORE CHI! TRAIN HARDER! SHARPER! FASTER!
amituofo!

man, i missed y'alls, too.
so glad i was able to catch up with you at dinner.
i went home and had a handful of those shrimp chips...yum! i brushed my teeth before i hit the sack, but this morning when i woke up, i had the taste of garlic in my mouth! hee hee!
I'm wondering how many bugolgi bibimbob we had at our table last night. 6 at my end including mo and Bryant. How many more at your end?
We also made a comment on the train ride home that there were more and more people joining us for dinner and that was fun. We also said that it's because of you and Branden taking initiative to tell people.
Funny you wrote about it. :)
ah sexy garlic! i love those chips but they are strong! i am glad that some new people join us when they can. we have such a great thing going on that i think others would benefit (as do we) with new infusion! i love eating with you guys after!
