dance class

yes it isn't shaolin & it doesn't exhaust in the way that i always feel i need (i've always been a tad partial to the bootcamp mentatlity in training) but i am really enjoying my dance class as of late.
granted i was the only person to show up last thursday which i hear tends to happen, it made it a personalized class for me. i did worry that the other two women there on st valentine's who were in their 9th mo were already on their way to delivering! [hey it happens all the time!]but i did enjoy the class.
the most important thing is to keep moving. i know i am not suffering from inertia in any way, what with working & walking the boyos each day twice a day (for the most part), i am more active than a whole host of other people. the dance class is a good outlet to stretch & move in a different more precise way & a good reminder to engage those stomach muscles one will so need at delivery & immediately thereafter.
it makes a big difference when walking to hold your stomach muscles in as it is so bloody heavy & it kinda just flops around otherwise & makes me feel very unbalanced. [it is a certain amount of weight in a place it wasn't before].
as i walk up the many hills of ft greene park with the boyos, pulling your stomach in, holding your stomach muscles taut actually helps me stay balanced, reminds me not to allow myself to hunch over (causing other discomforts) & i can monitor my breath as well. of course i am usually a few feet behind the off leash boyos but it's not as if i can stand still because they will just stand around & waste previous romping time (such are the boyos i raised).
bottom line is that shaolin or not, movement is key. preggers or not, you have to keep moving! it makes the body feel good, makes it stronger, faster & let's face it, the body is more enjoyable that way. also nothing gives better sleep than tiring the body out. the preggo body is tired a lot so it's already got a head start! but it does something to the mind too & having a quieter mind makes sleeping (at least for me) all the better.
yeah more chi!
