boyos in the hood

what hood? actually our new digs is in not much of a neighborhood. in our short exploration this weekend, for fun, for food & to & from the dogrun, i realize there isn't much of anything around. like what w'burg must have been like before, we are surrounded by factories & warehouse, although most of these are now lofts. this changes our habits quite a bit.
first, the walk to the dogpark is a bloody long one. the cooler weather makes it better (for a time, until it's too damned cold) to walk but the boyos are exhausted. then of course we must walk back. the good thing is that kat has a car we can use but this requires coordination & i cannot expect to go to the dogpark with her every day, although it would be nice. so we have to explore other closer dogparks or parks where boys can run amok. by closer, it will still be more than 20 blocks away.
then of course there is the subject of food. currently we are bbq-ing up a storm (with the grill on the roofdeck) since there is a gas issue in the flat. but this still means that we will have to plan ahead. there is a grocery about 5 long blocks away but it's a bit ghetto. i will have to pick up some meat in chinatown or on the way home or again borrow kat's car to go to a grocery i know.
thank god this really expensive little korean deli a block away carries my nat shermans. otherwise i would really be crying. but everything in there is super costly so you must really want that bottle of $5 looza black current (& i do!).
coordinating thus far hasn't been that bad. like this morning when i woke kat up (on the later side than i wanted) to take dogs to the park. 20 mins drive to get there, 20 mins there & 20 mins back. well, we spent more than 20 mins there. i wanted to tire boys out since they are just getting a walk tonite. we will pitch in for gas too, of course.
walking through the projects is no fun too, nor are the wider avenues with my 2 big boyos. there was a skateboard episode already. mofos. besides i don't feel good about tying the boyos up outside stores around there. i won't be carousing around without them so i'll have to sort it out.
it's dead quiet at night, so weird.
more observations later. i am getting out of this meeting now which i think i made good use of time in. ha!
