both sides ceshoufan

with all the move prep going on, i haven't trained more than a day this past week. yesterday, quan tuo & i took a much needed break to join the shaolin folks at fort greene park for hannah r's bday hang out. we brought the boyos, courtesy of my bro being in town for the day, on a hot sweltering day to play. luckily they chose a spot, high on a hill, fully shaded with a slight breeze. true to form, shaolin folks do not sit around, even after most of them trained earlier that day. i practiced yiluquan (grass was super slippery) while the dogs, tied to one another hung around. everyone was working on something. heng ji & i did ceshoufan on both sides, one easier than the other, of course. she turned me on to switching in sides in between, to use the momentum & it actually wasn't so bad. suddenly i was doing ceshoufan on the left & though they weren't as nice on the right side, i found with practice, it wasn't as difficult & i was able to get over the mental fear pretty easily. it was so much fun & it will be something i practice during the warm up until i am more comfy when i hope i can practice in class. i also tried erjijao on the other side (another mental hurdle) as well as pubu chuanzang which required thinking since there are so many parts to it. it was a great time & a great day. despite the battery issues the car was having. everyone was pretty pooped when we got home.
today, the boyos also had another special guest star, my bloodbrother stavros. he came to hang out & coincidentally my bro was here to return to beantown so everyone got to hang out a bit. it's a tad cooler today but still muggy. we are chillin' (figuratively).
