sometimes you have to ask to get what you want

training last night was awesome. it wasn't nearly as hot as tuesday though i did still sweat through 2 undershirts & quan tuo brought me a towel for added cooling (oh so nice & perhaps i should not have laughed too quickly at his bringing one to class for himself). got there on the early side (quan tuo actually beat me there!) & did up the shaolin hair, stretched & warmed up a bit, wondering who will be teaching class while sifu is in mexico. it was a bit like old temple feeling, the class was well into the 40s with some people starting today & some taking the trial class. quan tuo took the newbies & showed them caijao (the first thing everyone learns) before class started. heng xu taught & she is a task master! so BAM! class started & there was great chi all throughout basics which went fast & was 3 lines wide for the first time in a long time! i made it all the way through to forms & had so much fun. at one point i had the giggles during ceshoufan (this is what happens when i have to be upside down) & quan tuo caught it & yelled out smiles everyone! (heng li says this all the time but he hasn't been training as of late). chuji quantao was fast & furious. fun though. xiebu, dingbu & pubu was more difficult, my legs were so heavy. then stretch time: i did the wall stretch with lisa & seraphim. then i stretched myself out but tweaked my left knee (man was it painful) during the straddle. quan tuo said i shouldn't let my body go too low until the straddle is lower to the ground. then waibaitui (somehow i was 2nd behind quan tuo for a minute), zhengtutui which i pop the best then tengkong holiaotui then yiluquan. so since i only know the 1st 1/3, i had to step out while they finished.
then a quick break, changed undershirts, toweled down & went in for forms. i went up to xu & told her there were a few of us in the same spot in yiluquan & asked if we could learn something more. i got a stern: go train! i wasn't disheartened though & i was right: eventually xu pulled us aside & worked with us to sharpen what we know then taught us the jump! it wasn't too hard though coordinating a turning jump with arm & head movements can be daunting at first. also i kept landing on my heels with a thud! that made me tip back a bit. i also switched my arms for some reason so i have to stop that! but it was fun! i am glad i performed a USAST no-no - asking to be taught - but i know that since sifu is away, i may be able to get away with it!
suddenly it was push-up, sit up & back bend time & i yelled a fierce more chi loud & clear! i had so much fun. qbertplaya & i helped heng mo clean out the turtle tank (those guys are getting really yummy, i mean, big. kidding! sifu has a running joke that he will have them to eat when they are big enough) which was fun & a few of us palled around. quan tuo showed some folks how to do the sweep properly. we may have some friends over to work the sweep at the park very soon. quan tuo is good at it & good at teaching. xu had him teach chuji quantao to some folks. he loves that.
then we ate at thai son & drove sucheela & qbertplaya back home. took the boyos out next door while we enjoyed some hiffage. then watched HP4 (my favourite with that dashing cedric!). all kinds of good.
planning on training this weekend too & since mk is away next week at a conference, i may train during the day too!
MORE CHI.
