weekend round up

what a lovely weekend! i couldn't have asked for more in terms of weather & good times my boyos & with friends. that is until quan tuo returned from nascar yesterday!

friday after work i ran home to walk my boyos & we had a good time running around town. then i met dina to head into town for dinner with qbertplaya at saigon grill (my fave!). strangely there was a protest going on outside (i had earlier learned they do not even pay their bike delivery guys minimum wage) & everyone going in to eat was boo'ed rather loudly. we opted to go to the corner shoppe & had delicious food & tasty drinks! we then headed down to kung fu movie night & as we were 12 minutes late completely missed the demo team (drat! those guys are prompt!) but arrived right in time for the movie - jackie chan in drunken master 2. it was great fun! quite a few folks were there although they were not recognizable in the dark! we found some good friends & hung around together on the carpet. soon after we settled into our 2nd beer, my friend rosa joined us. it was so relaxed in the temple & the coldest i have ever felt in that place! once the movie was over & some of the lights came on, we were able to mingle & i introduced my friends to my shaolin brothers! apart from the hardcore recruiting, shaolin folk are so much fun! towards the end of the night sifu was doing his own drunken style & mimicking one of the villians with a crazy leg! rosa & i cabbed it home with billy of the brooklyn vipers & his date!

saturday i woke up too late to train (curses!) but instead trained hard with the boyos! we were out for 4+ hours in the beautiful weather! first we hit the grassy knoll next door then the dogpark where we hung out quite a while! bo bunny is definitely in a dominance mood these days & he wrestled with quite a few dogs. the baby bird was happy to hang around & play ball. then we hit the farmers market & after purchasing my weekend chocolate milk, we sat on the grass a while & i took some fun photos with my new telefono. by this time tongues were already hanging from the heat! so we went to charles & nina's place & the boyos hung out with one of their favourite girls while he & i had brunch in the hood. i have to say it was one of the longest waits i have had in a long time for my goat cheese & salmon on foccacia. that place sucks. the food was good but come on! so after picking up more dog supplies & the boyos, we head home & nap for a couple of hours. then i went to meet qbertplaya at the t for a visit to fette sau. her friend julie joined us! we had bacon, pastrami, flank steak, pork ribs, potato salad, kraut, rolls, beans & drinks. it was just the right amount for 3 meat eating gurls! the bacon was unfreakin' believable! so delicious. must go again soon! it was still so warm & bright out in the early evening. after devouring all that goodness, we went to bedford to shop around a bit. we went to my flat to sit at the balcony & have some spirits. the boys enjoyed the company & we walked qbertplaya to the t later on in the evening & julie home as she lives in the hood. we hit the dogpark around 11:30 then headed home.

i watched the sweet & lowdown in the afternoon which was good but i didn't really enjoy it. the music was great. i watched slacker before bed & i detest that aimless, self-important, regurgitating what you have read with no opinions of your own type movie. i should have shut if off after 15 minutes!

sunday boyos & i were up early for a good romp before i ran off to training. so great to see some faces i haven't seen in a while. the weekend crowd is different from the weekday evenings! only 22 of us were there & i think more than half were wimin! hell yeah! it was a fast class & somehow i was 4th in line at the first run then after stretching i ended up 2nd behind 'shua & i was dying! but of course you survive, just do your best & more chi! i was sucking wind though from much too much smoking this weekend! forms went well & we were cheering one another on as usual! sifu did say more chi everyone! he hardly ever does that! after training which included sit-ups, pushups & backbends, we were released about 10 minutes early & we all did cleaning meditation while inviting everyone to eat with us at thai son. 11 came to eat, so great! we had an intimate lunch all squooshed together! i really love this ever-evolving group of folks! afterwards, a smaller group of us gurls went to watch billy of the brooklyn vipers play on w broadway! he is such a showman! we took a break, went shopping & had mr softee then back to watch some more! we should be his back-up singers & dancers! it was a nice afternoon with intense sun. we all parted ways to wash our uniforms & shower. more chi!

after getting home, starting the wash & taking the boyos out to play frisbee & wrestle around with friends, we came home & chilled on the balcony until quan tuo came home! we caught up on our very different weekends & had a chill evening together. the royal we are so glad he has finally come home.
