ahoy hoy

monday. i expected better weather but that's because i so wanted to believe ny1 this morning when they declared it could be a high of 67 degrees. feels like 50 right now. not too too bad. better than the sleepy rainy sunday weather we got yesterday which i believe contributed to my very lazy day. it was a combination of things really. i haven't had such a lazy day in a long time. much needed. the only time i left the flat was in the morning with the boyos to romp around before the rain. quan tuo took them in the evening for their walk. to be honest, i love walking in the rain with the boyos. they have also learned very early on that a little rain won't kill them. can't say the same for thunderstorms though. they send machiavelli into a nervous frenzy. i used to have to build him forts & sit there with him all night. now he just pulls out everything in the bottom shelf of my wall of books & other things then inserts himself in there. pretty smart though he seems to favour where the tools live which can be dangerous. tenzin just barks along to the thunder. luckily no thunder last night. at least we have quite a bit of whiskey to give mac should he freak out this week. more rain is expected on humpday.

planet earth, hands down my favourite show on the telly, was awesome last night. i really get that tremble in my tummy when hunters are stalking their prey. it's similar to when i have the misfortune of accidentally watching scary movies. i realize it's the way the world works but it's hard to watch. i don't have that visceral reaction, for example, when watching another discovery show i've come to like: the deadliest catch. people actually die every year in this, not to mention being maimed or severely hurt in some episodes. last night when the polar bear was first swimming around not having much ice to latch on to, i was so worried he was going to drown! then he finally came about a huge cluster of walruses, i thought oh no! he's gonna get stabbed, go for the ones with the short tusks! but first the polar bear took a nap since his trek exhausted him. he was so sweet. then when he finally went for it, he was stabbed. luckily i missed it but quan tuo confirmed it. it made me sad.
i like to think i would be able to hunt & gather if i had to to live but maybe i would feel differently about it then.

it's fairly still new: having the telly on or more specifically, having cable. we tend to watch discovery or science shows more than anything. that & futurama which i never tire of. quan tuo likes to have it on even when he isn't watching it. i prefer to have it on when something worth watching is on.

having a blog is weird. i want to be more comprehensive with my commentary. to have a topic & stick to it. instead of jumping around a lot which i feel i am doing now. is there a blog ettiquette or something of the sort? i wonder. if it did exist, i doubt i'd follow it.

it was my mom's bdays this weekend. no, i meant to say birthdays. it's a long story but we celebrate her birthday for 2 days. i took this & ran with it for my birthday but that's yet another blog. i am sorry to have missed dinner with everyone. i always feel left out when i don't go home for things like birthdays because i love to eat with my family. i think it's the one thing we all do really well together. but i was in no condition to go anywhere this weekend. i heard they had a nice dinner at a pan-asian place that they'll take me to when next i am home. whenever that is.

i am in dire need of a real holiday. to get out of dodge. to feel some sun on the body. quan tuo was going to be sent to the DR for a work retreat but that was rescinded. he is going to richmond VA for another work related event (lucky boy) in the next weeks. i need warm water & sun. soon.

saturday we did a mountain of laundry & should be all set for the next months to come. house stuff. we also did some supply shopping although this is endless. so too is the food shopping. quan tuo made his fantastic kroeze tacos. yum-yummy. it's a secret family recipe that i have been lucky enough to enjoy a couple of times already. kroeze tacos & his uncle are my sweet introduction to his family thus far. looking forward to more in the near future.
