good times, good times

it's lovely outside. i just took a walk to see if i can find some kicks & nothing. i mean, there are thousands of ugly kicks out there, gaudy colours, ugly designs, ridiculously large logos. finding a prince would be a lot easier! what are people thinking anyway? who are designing these nasty kicks? better yet, who are buying them? it's annoying & yes, my search continues. my old kicks are shot but will have to hold on just a bit longer while i find a suitable replacement.

this morning the boyos & i had a great time playing. first teno & i played frisbee while mac engaged me in old fashioned wrestling which looks more dangerous than it is. it took a while but his is the softest mouth around! then suddenly a street sweeper came around the corner & boyos went berserk! this is nothing new but it is great when they are off leash! they run & bark (sometimes at the same time). tenzin is superfast! they usually run for a bit longer until they no longer hear the street sweeper. then they return to me all proud. sillies. thereafter they both wanted to play frisbee. mac doesn't usually want to play per se, just to kill the frisbee. but this time he played along, running for it, grabbing it a couple of times & miraculously letting me take it from him to throw again. by the time we left both boyos had tongues hanging out the sides of their mouths & panting. tired dogs are happy dogs! see their old photo! that's they way i love my dogs!

training last night was such great fun! granted it was a bit slower than usual. our senior brother 'shua taught class & like other senior classmates, he focuses on certain things that sifu may not focus on too much. this time it was getting the line to coordinate, with the four people for each move & each turn. 'shua also demonstrated some moves which is always helpful. i have been personally taught quite a bit by 'shua & i always appreciate his perspective & dry sense of humour. moreover i was able to practice my forms! quan tuo told me i should do yiluquan twice since i have learned only the first 8 movements. i'll do this next time. also he said i had forgotten the things i was to work on with chuji quantao. i did not! it just takes a while for me to get things to do with arms right. so i must train harder. ever harder. but it was fun in line. lots of good chi. lots of silliness too. i rather enjoyed it.
moreover, 'shua asked quan tuo to teach xubu to some of the newer students. i was so proud! it's the first time he was officially asked & i always thought it would happen sooner or later. of course, i also thought he may have preferred to practice his forms but he's got erluquan down cold (i think). anyway, it was fun to watch him. he pointed out my xubu was a bit off. arms again. train harder!
i really enjoy when after the line drills we do the first form together. we do this twice or more. i stayed right in the middle of the group so i can observe. i realize zupoan & dingbu are easy for me but the pubu & xiebu transitions are still fuzzy. i guess i'll tap my in-house instructor for that! then after stretching & the last of the line drills, we do yiluquan as a group & for this i stay on the fringes since after the 8 movements i know i have to get the hell out of the way! i can't wait to learn it all. again, quan tuo will help me, i know it.
no training for me this weekend & part of next week. tom. but i will train harder at home or outside with the dogs so that i am ready for next week's testing. bad timing but it could be worse! tom could have been around for testing & maybe taking my CHI away.
'shua had us do the push-ups, sit-ups & back bends like we used to in the old temple. we were told to "find some wood" to keep our sweat off the carpet! it was fun. i must say that some of us do this warm down regardless after class but it is always nice to do this with everyone. also i tend not to count when with the group, since sifu or in this case 'shua will tell us when to do the next move or at the end when to line up again. otherwise i count every painful crunch!
a gang of us went to eat at a korean place nearby! good food, good conversation, good times. excellent buy 2 beers get one free tall sapporos! it's great to hang out & talk shop & replenish our energy. the walk to the subway & to the flat was on the cool side. i think it's all the blood rushing to my tummy!
quan tuo & i relaxed at home after shower & laundry. the dogs were on my shite list for eating crackers they were not supposed to. they hid in quan tuo's room for a while. monsters!
i am a bit sore today but that's great! i like feeling that afterburn. MORE CHI! TRAIN HARDER.
rang up my mom on the first of her 2 day birthdays. she's a happy camper.
quan tuo texted me to tell me he picked up some champagne! hooray.
one day i'll have a stock pile as my favourite aunt does. she's so civilized!
