the door has opened

quan tuo & i made it to sunday training for the first time in seemingly forever! there were some conflicts along the way but i am glad we made it since it was sorely needed: a fast paced & good chi class & i was taught the very first move on erluquan!!
erluquan also known as the second fist form or the 3rd form in L1 is very exciting, long & has many intricate parts & movements. quan tuo told me a long time ago that i must follow my hands & this is not more pronounced than in erluquan. i basically skipped along with glee behind heng xu when she called me over to learn it (then i had to stop when she looked at me with her serious face, i don't yet have a tiger face). so after i learned it, i incorporated it in between the 2 forms i do know so i can practice it in line. we had more than an hour to do forms so everyone was taught something & that is so great. it was a great class, everyone was pushing since it was a small class & we were all sweating buckets (except quan tuo who xu pulled off to teach gongbu to some newbies including billy of the viper's woman - trish! so glad she decided to start training!). i watched quan tuo do erluquan from start to finish in one run at a very good pace. it's amazing to watch but he did have lots of energy since he taught the last hour or so. most everyone breaks the form down to learn it in parts & practice it in parts to perfect it. it takes a lot of CHI to get it done in one run. quan tuo has chi!
9 of us went to soup training after & it was great! day training has such a different feel to it because one still has the rest of the day. so to take advantage of that & of the lovely weather, we headed off to w broadway to listen & watch billy of the vipers perform! it was good fun & billy is always a pleasure to watch in action. we hung out a good while then went off to get some tasty treats at a truffle place nearby. oh my! delicious green tea truffles. hmmmm!!
i cannot wait to learn a bit more of erluquan. quan tuo helped me straighten out my stance for the first move last night (while we were bbq'ing on the roof) which helped me a lot & was slightly different from what xu taught me. i am sure sifu will tweak it when he sees me do it! i wonder if he'll be surprised!?! can't wait to find out.
quan tuo also accidentally hit me in the face because i didn't know he was going to continue with the form when i stepped in to take a fresh angle. luckily, i have always been hardier than i thought, probably with all the rough & tumble action i always have with the boyos & hello! real live tomboy here (much to my mom's dismay) so i can take alot. plus i am sure training helps push the pain threshold pretty high. ah! more chi!!
