last night, training was pretty awesome. i got there super early, having earlier decided to get new temple feiyues (i tossed my old MORE CHI! TRAIN HARDER! pair after fire island, it was on it's way out anyway with the holes in all the right places plus it was soaked & there was sand everywhere) & i figured i'd need to break them in & also i needed to stretch something fierce. so i arrive, get my shoes, do a few ceshoufans to get the dizzies out of the way, worked on pubu to get a sweat as well as other basics. i felt nice & loose, strange isn't it? not having trained in 4 days (apart from beach action). my caijiaos were up there! people were piling in, it was great, so much good chi & good company! so we line up, i am in the front line (& again at the end!) & go! sifu didn't yell at me at all! i was probably 5th in line, everyone in front of me were level 2 folks, quan tuo on the opposite line 2nd in line. it was great. again i must work on my tengkong fanyao, i can get up in the air but i am not horizontal. spining makes me laugh too (not so good). anyway, i felt good chi the entire time & i thought basics went fast. stretching was good - hello hips! stretched with heng mo & ted with a 2nd pull out for add'l shaolin inches. then stretched by myself then helped sweaty quan tuo with his forward stretches by pushing on his back & i was off the ground! i got a wee confused at the beginning of yiluquan but i caught up. i think my pubu & xiebu are getting better though they are exhausting!! jump up! i started zuopan all wrong with my legs already crossed which sent me into giggles. it happened with pubu chuanzhang lunbi zaquan too - i laugh when i tweak something especially in my hips, i don't know, i guess it's weird but that's my natural reaction to pain. then forms! so we had a big line at forms for about 15 minutes then sifu pulled senior students off to teach kfk & came over to watch forms. he started pulling folks off to work on certain things & then he asked me to do yiluquan for him (that made me nervous & i jump the wrong way again, damn it!). he said i needed some power in it & told richu to work with me. 40 minutes of this was exhausting but (a) i learned how to end yiluquan which i was didn't know & wasn't too sure from watching; (b)richu gave me good visuals re mabu arm movements i.e imagine fighting 20 people off who have jumped on you, nice!; (c) reminder to chamber the strikes & we worked on which movements were strikes; (d) right after the jump, we worked on getting my elbow to my belly button [which is harder when you have boobs, i tell you, but workable]; (e) pop that cross caijiao which is getting better. sifu stood right by me to watch which made me doubly tired expending chi! then close with push ups, sit ups & back bends. while in line, we were reminded about the retreat coming up in glen cove & though quan tuo & i decided we couldn't afford it right now, i really want to go. i want to live like a warrior monk, i always have!! next time. great training today. for cleaning meditation, i worked on the beautiful altar which is always enjoyable. because it was so cold out (i kept saying it was the first day of autumn)i was freezing immediately after training so we got ready to train soup. as usual a good time with the gang, we were all famished. richu told quan tuo that i was knocking on erluquan's door & that sifu wants me to learn more! how exciting!! must train harder!
recuperative sleep was easy last night despite the sore lower back (which is rare for me) & the hamstrings. it was good sleeping!
can't wait for thursday training, maybe i can learn more, more more!
