wedding kind of fun

here i am back at work after a long & lovely weekend extravaganza for my cousin cindy's wedding which i would not have missed for the world. here is a recap:

saturday
quan tuo & i take off for lovely lake george area & we realize along the way never to trust the directions given to us. we should plot out our own course since it usually saves time. the mustang was great fun, especially with the top down & the wind in our hair. there were some sweet & awesome small storms we drove through. it was amazing how bright & clear the sky would be in front of us while we were getting battered by huge drops with no visibility (watch the yellow lines on the road!!) ah summer storms! we arrive at lochlea lane in lake george after 5. we droped off my boyos for their own weekend good times a bit after 2pm. we, my parents, bro, sister & her family shared a 3bd cabin with it's own private beach a mere half a mile from the wedding site & a skip, hop & highway crossing from the other events. that first evening, after tossing our gear in the cabin, we all drove into the town together to have dinner & celebrate my daddyo's birthday (15 june) & present him with his portable gps (which he requested). the dinner was on the boardwalk & a loud 2 piece band was playing & everything was fried (but that's ok). i asked the band to play happy bday for daddyo which the solo saxamaphonist did. the view was lovely there too. all us kids had a piggy back race back to the car! thereafter we split up a bit & my bro, quan tuo & i walked around & checked out the bars & drank a bit before rendezvousing back with my parents. my sister & her family went home to get the kids to bed & have some private time (good luck!).

sunday
woke up on the early side, broke fast with quan tuo then went to meet the rest of the family arriving at the place most everyone else was staying. quan tuo & i wanted to go for a drive up the mountain or an adventure so we loosely formulate a plan & dano & stavros join us. first we end up at sagamore island, connected to lake george town by a small bridge. it's quite pretty there! there is a huge hotel too! we took some pix then headed off to drive around. dano & stavros weren't too keen on driving around to check things out but didn't say anything about it til after. dano got a bit seasick from being in the back of the mustang while quan tuo was riding slolams pretty tight. it was a beautiful lush ride though & i am glad we went. when we returned, we hopped into the pool for a bit with the kiddies. other family members proceeded to show up & it was an instant little party. we had to get ready for the rehearsal dinner at 5:30pm so we had to schedule pretty well individual shower time. the rehearsal dinner was nice, everyone who hadn't previously met at some point in the 4 years cc & ss have been together had a chance to talk. we had a fun table! lots of great photos too! the food was yummy but frankly there wasn't enough of it considering how much alcohol we consumed. after the rehearsal dinner, we all caravanned to cc & ss's newly purchased house in saratoga springs. it is a beautiful home with awesome amenities on 1/2 an acre. aside from being way the hell up there, they should enjoy that place quite a lot. at least there is room for us (all) to visit. after arriving back in the lake george area, the boys decided to keep drinking (despite the hunger). suffice it to say i was kept up all night by silliness.

wedding day
up on the later side (due to previous) but quan tuo was patient with my imminent need to eat rice right away (after a few days without) so we hit a chinese food place on the main drag then met up with my family who was enjoying rootbeer floats at a drive thru place (the americanna just wouldn't quit). it was spectacular weather this weekend but most of all on the wedding day! so we got ready for the afternoon shindig, managing to take a wee nap while the shower was occupied. then we were off, in our best gear. man, we were quite pretty. lots of other folks arrived just for the day so the meet & greet continued & photos were fun! it was a gorgeous setting, right on the lake (like most things up there) but with a sweet breeze. the bridal party started to appear right when i was having a smoke break with family & friends so we had to take our places (we decided to stand in the shade) when the bride appeared. she was so beautiful & already in tears! hell, we all were upon seeing her & how happy she is. the vows were sweet & simple & the best part: the groom began to cry at his own vows. the wave of giggles & sighs went through the crowd to witness such a emotional union. i lead the clapping when they were pronounced man & wife! then we pelted them with rose petals while they went off to take photos on the pier. up the hill we went to a castle looking building where the reception & food, glorious food & abundant drinks were! my cousins & i all hugged each other, checking each others' faces & wiping away tears on top of smiles. we commenced drinking & snacking & smoking as well as further meeting & greeting. the meal was delightful & delicious, the band was good although not the best music to grind up to! (hey now!) my uncle's speech was touching & the powerpoint presentation by the 2 bridesmaids was some of the sweetest i have ever seen & heard. so much love, so much fun, so much catching up. only a small percentage of my family made the monday wedding so it was a good chance to intimately catch up with those who made the trek. quan tuo & i danced a bit together too. i danced also with my niece nina, the rock-star of the evening. i had the distinct honour & pleasure of helping the bride change into her 2nd dress near the end of the evening. we both wanted a quiet moment with one another. i love this girl so much & am soo happy she got her dream wedding with cooperation from all sides. we were exhausted at the end of the night.

tuesday
up early & out immediately thereafter, my family left quan tuo & i to our own devices on their way back to beantown. we had a leisurely ride home on a warm day with little traffic & true to form, made it back home in less time (though more tolls). we picked up all the dogs & took them for a ride in the convertible (which dogs love!) then returned the boyos' host dog before heading home for food & a much needed nap. everyone was so glad to be home together. quan tuo drove the entire time there & was so deserving of lots of rest & some pampering!

i received a text message from my cousin on her stop over. she was so happy. we don't have much choice in who we are related to but i am so lucky to have gotten to know & had the opportunity to be best friends with my cousin cindy. we both share our people with one another. we have been through a lot together & there is so much more to share.
