i feel like we had a wicked chill weekend but there was a lot done, although not nearly as much as i originally planned. but then again, i often do have too many things planned.
all weekend it was drizzling then sunny then drizzling then sunny. the winds have been constant & the air warm. i personally love the rain so it was alright to get all misted upon.
anyhoo, friday night at lynn's was a lovely reunion of dogowners in honour of anne being back in town. it felt like she hadn't been away a year or so. so much to catch up on & lots of great news all around. anne is married & happy! tracey is very pregnant! adam is engaged! kat's dog training business is going great! lynn made fantatstic food & me, well, it's all kinds of good. margaritas & wine later, we all agreed to meet at the dogpark sunday, just like old times. i had a late night since quan tuo was out at the guiness event & ended up hanging out & not coming home til wee hours.
saturday we all went for a walk in the early afternoon & got some food. we watched a bit of SHAOLIN VS THE LAMA ('74). there was a lot of napping here & there & eventually had to take boys out again before getting ready to head to kf heng jian's place for his mighty pesto!
quite a few people made the trek out to 181st! it was so great to hang out with shaolin folks! the food was great, so was the company & i was even coerced into playing a charade like game. we were home lickety-split since charlotte drove & picked up her wine. despite this, quan tuo & i had another late night!
in talking to others at the party, it is so very true that we all have different reasons for, expectations of, training. even the individual relationship with sifu is critical to a lot of people. it's curious & well worth discussing & thinking about.
the morning dogrun was great! another reunion! it was a great crowd on a lovely day! dogs were out over 2 hours. picked up food for quan tuo & i with dogowner friends & ran into a great friend from university - pwc!
turns out he is back in w'burg, owns a bar & is opening up another. i think we will be getting in touch & soon! what a fabulous surprise! it was the bunch o'dogs outside that caught his eye while i was ordering food. so great!
later in the early evening, quan tuo & i went to mario's bbq in LIC. it was nice to be there. the food was great, the place comfortable & so great to hang out with mario & cynthia. time did fly since it was late evening before we knew it.
great news: tracey delivered a baby girl yesterday: Grace King, 7lbs, 6ozs!
she & ben are our first friends in the hood to have a child, being the same age. we have, of course, older friends with kids. it's a new adventure for us to share!
